About the dragonfly body?

A dragonfly has two pairs of strong transparent wings, and an elongated body. Dragonflies are similar to damselflies, but the adults can be differentiated by the fact that the wings of most dragonflies are held away from, and perpendicular to, the body when at rest. Dragonflies possess six legs (like any other insect), but most of them cannot walk well.

What do dragonflies eat?

Larval dragonflies are aquatic and eat anything small enough for them to catch and hold onto while they grind it into pieces and eat it. This ranges from scuds, tubifex worms, water beetles, mosquito larvae, small fish, mayfly larvae, damselfly larvae, other dragonfly larvae, As adults, dragonflies eat just about anything they can catch while on the wing. Mosquitoes, gnats, flies, flying ants, swarming termites, mayflies, midges, butterflies (even big swallowtails), damselflies, other dragonflies, or just about anything small enough for them to catch.

Are dragonflies related to flies?

Despite there name, dragonflies are not related to common flies. In fact they are a part of an entirely different order of insects. Dragonflies are part of the Odonata order, witch also includes damselflies. Normal flies are called horse flies that u acually find in houses or out side flying around.

How dragonflies are born

When you see two dragonflies flying around in the air attached to one another it is almost always a male and female mating.Dragonflies are not born with wings. They are born in a larvae state and eventually go through a partial metamorphosis process, during which they grow there wings. As babys they eat mosquito larva, tiny fish, etc. Also as they get older they learn how to catch small incects in the sky with there head like a spear.
